Over the weekend the giant pumpkin/squash winner was announced at the 142nd Deerfield Fair in Deerfield, New Hampshire. Steve Geddes from Boscawen came out the winner with his pumpkin weighing in at 2,528 pounds. While still waiting confirmation, it’s believed that this pumpkin may hold the new United States record for giant pumpkins.
To beat the Guinness World Records, it would have had to defeat the winner from 2016, Mathias Willemijn of Germany with his pumpkin weighing 2,624.6 pounds. While Geddes’ pumpkin is just shy of beating that record by about 97 pounds, it’s still a pumpkin that deserves recognition for being one of the biggest grown in North America.
